Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro reported on Thursday, Sept. 2, the area received 4 to 6 inches of rain overnight from the remnants of Hurricane Ida.
The County departments of Public Works and Emergency Response report the majority of significant storm damage occurred principally in the southern part of Dutchess County, where upwards of 6 inches of rain accumulated; public works departments from the county and local municipalities continue to assess roadways and bridges for potential damage.
Between 5 p.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. Thursday, the County 911 Center received approximately 800 calls, roughly twice the normal call volume.
As of 5 a.m. today, more than 30 roads throughout Dutchess County were impacted or closed due to flooding; while some of the impacted roads have since reopened, the county has received reports of other roads being subsequently closed due to storm damage.
Roadways closed as of 11 a.m.:
- Route 23 Chestnut Ridge at Killean Road in Union Vale is closed due to heavy flooding
- Beekman Road at Augusta Road in East Fishkill is closed due to heavy flooding
- Fishkill Ave. at Mill St. in the City of Beacon is closed due to flooding
- Washington St at Jansen Ave in the City of Beacon is closed due to flooding
- Beacon Hills Road at Old Town Road in the Town of Fishkill is closed due to flooding
- Route 24 north of Camby Rd in Dover has water running over the roadway making it impassable
- Route 9D north of Chelsea Ridge Apartments has flooded with an impassable southbound lane
- Lime Kill Road by Gate 5 at iPark in East Fishkill has a tree down blocking the southbound lane
- Bridge on E. Hook Road between Tamarack Dr. and Buroak Dr. in E. Fishkill is washed out and impassable
- Old Hopewell Road between Losee Road and Spook Hill Road in the Town Of Wappinger is closed due to excessive flooding
- Route 9 and Clove Road in Town of Fishkill closed due to excessive water coming off the mountain onto the road
- Nellie Hill Road in the Town of Dover-water is rising over the top of the bridge surface…road/bridge closed
- Maloney Road and Smith Crossing Road in Town of Wappinger is closed with significant water (about 2-3 feet) car with passenger floating down the roadway
- Noxon Road from Reggies Way to Arthursburg Road is closed due to flooding areas
- Route 82 at Emmons Road in LaGrange is closed due to flooding
- Route 32 at Gardner Hollow Road in Beekman is flooded and impassable
The potential for delayed flooding remains along the Fall Kill and Wappinger creeks, as well as the Hudson River.
Central Hudson reported some 1,700 customers in the county were without electricity, with power expected to be restored by the end of the day.
New York State Electric and Gas (NYSEG) reported nearly 300 local customers without power, which was estimated to be restored by 2 p.m.
